Nuts - Stainless Steel

Stainless steel nuts are internally threaded devices typically used in conjunction with similarly threaded bolts to create a joining of two or more components.  Standard inch and metric nuts are available in a variety of sizes, strengths and aid in securing a joint from loosening due to vibration.  Made of stainless steel, nuts are corrosion resistant and ideal in a number of applications.  Nuts are available in various grades of SS including 18-8, 316, A2-70 and A4-80.

Stainless steels are a family of ferrous, or iron alloys composed of steel (iron and carbon) with a minimum of 10.5% chromium content that gives it the corrosion resistant properties it is known for.  Generally speaking, the more chromium, the better the corrosion resistance. Chromium creates a passive surface film that is self-healing and resistant to oxidation, corrosion, and/or rust.
